The first mistake Topeka City officials, people of power, and even the community made, was underestimating the tenacity of Lazone Grays.

It recognizes civil rights leaders who helped get the Voting Rights Act passed as well as women's rights leaders, labor union leaders and community organizers who continue to make sure all citizens have a right to vote without barriers and fight for issues that impact people of color.

They fight for issues like workers rights, voting rights, and criminal justice reform. Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery, Rev. CT Vivian, Dr. Hazel Dukes, Salandra Benton, Lazone Grays and Richard Womack Jr are among those recognized.

The discourse in these audio files really show how deep the pathology goes for non-minorities with the power to make decisions over the lives of others they are not associated with.
It is highly unfortunate that with taxpayers dollars, this is the type of dismal leadership that is provided by those entrusted to make informed decisions.
Joint Economic Development Organization Meeting - Dec. 13, 2012
Annual meeting to review the business plan submitted for 2013 economic development programming & activities paid for with public funds made available under a 'special tax'. On an annual basis, elected officials must decide on whether to continue contracting with a (contractor) for 'all' economic development services and activities or they have the option to change course as needed.

“Every child is a genius,” he told British reporters.“Once you identify the talent of a child and put them in the environment that will nurture that talent, then the sky is the limit. Look at Tiger Woods or the Williams sisters [Venus and Serena] — they were nurtured. You can never rule anything out with them. The competition between the two of them makes them excel in anything they do.”…

This is a bold and historic declaration to a nation that has yet to rally around investing and supporting the success of its Black boys. Our approach is to inform and educate leaders and influencers: i.e. policymakers, educators, professionals, business and community leaders, investors, philanthropists, clergy, pro athletes and celebrities. We believe too many leaders and influencers of America's Black boys are disconnected from the knowledge and networks that drive…

[TOPEKA] Google, Inc. and IBSA, Inc., a Kansas nonprofit corporation have teamed up to expand Project C.A.R.E., a service that provides a special Google Voice account to the homeless and unemployed low-income job seekers to use on job applications and resumes, or share with family and other community resources assisting them.

Project C.A.R.E. (Communications and Respect for Everybody) will provide a local phone number and voicemail box to the homeless and low-income job seeking population in Kansas. As in 1998, Grays believes that having a consistent, reliable point of contact can be crucial to someone trying to get back on their feet, especially when this population has a tendacy to move frequently and rarely have enough minutes on newer low-cost cellphones before the end of the month.

Other nonprofit and governmental agencies that provide support services, access to resources and those that  traditionally facilitate community-based services on a referral basis can contact IBSA at (913) 735-4272 or by email at: admin@ibsa-inc.org to discuss coordinating the service on their local level.
