Profile Information

Your Profile

A proud Pan-Afrikan dedicated and working hard to make a difference to the global plight of Afrikan people. I believe in our community doing for self and to be empowered to control our journey.

I took the plunge and moved to Gambia in 2017 by executing a 12 year plan. This move is bringing into fruition new and exciting ventures from building a house myself to building a health business.

While living in the UK I was involved in many areas including:

Police Authority-
Independent member of Northamptonshire/National Police Authority
During the 8 year term I contributed to police diversity training, impact assessment training, strategic management training, formal investigations into racism and police disciplinary and the ‘Know your Rights’ leaflets into Stop and Search
Managing legal equalities compliance for Local Authorities, Primary Care Trusts, Universities and Education Regulators.

Raising Aspirations -
Setting up and promoting The Raising Aspirations agenda for black children who want to aspire to attend Russell Group Universities or simply to continue their education after 18. This was started in conjunction with Oxford University when I was the Race Advisor. Two workshops were held in Walthamstow Town Hall Council Chambers for parents and children supporting with cv formats, cover letters, personal statements, choosing GCSE/GCE subjects for HE applications and influential black people in our history. There is a face book page that you can join to see information on black history, education and black achievers.

Nubian Legal Consultants-

Setting up a legal consultancy to assist our people with employment issues, divorce issues, policing issues and Section 8 contact orders.

Nubian Health-

Just before leaving the UK Nubian Health was set up to encourage and promote healthy eating and the use of natural products for hair and skin. Nubian Health formulates and produce natural cosmetics without including chemicals or preservatives to heal and improve the appearance of the body.
Essential oils are a major ingredient of the products including base materials sourced in Gambia such as black soap, shea butter, moringa and baobab.
The face book page contains and is continually updated to support healthy eating by sharing health information.
I held several vegan nights where people were able to taste and sample vegan cuisine that is tasty as well as healing for the body. I am currently writing my first vegan cookery health information book.

I am involved in a number off charitable projects in the Gambia ranging from youth leadership and empowerment to supporting small scale businesses that depend on tourism.

Association of Small Scale Enterprise and Responsible Tourism (ASSERT)-
An executive board member supporting small traders in Gambia with training, business packing, business ethics, quality control, marketing and access to finance.

Victory Foundation (Charity)
I am an executive member of Victory Foundation whose main purpose is to provide leadership, empowerment, knowledge and pride of self for young people in Gambia. We hold youth panels each month to encourage open dialogue with politicians, security services and gender issues, we publish a quarterly magazine “Potential Youth” which, is produced by young people with the support of skilled adults.

Victory Foundation is always looking for donations to help fund the production of the magazine and to facilitate training and careers advice for the youth.

If you would like to contribute financially or share your skills through training or other means please contact Shakina on nubian544@aol.com

I have recently just started a campaign for the descendants of the enslaved to gain lawful citizenship in Gambia. My team and I believe we have birthrights across the continent and that we are owed a welcome home. The campaign wil start in Gambia and hopefully be a pilot for other Afrikan nations to follow suit. We have the support of a prominent minister and believe once we present a compelling case that our citizenship rights will be written into law for today and the generations tomorrow. We are aiming to launch the full campaign in Gambia towards the end of November 2018. If you are in Gambia at that time please do contact me for further details.

Abuse in odd-lots trade

Posted by Carl Tatham on April 26, 2019 at 11:08 0 Comments

For this purpose, my article of choice revolves around the New York Stock Exchange that has been seeking to set equal opportunities for small investors who in most instances don’t get the best of benefit out trading small lots (0-99 shares) like investors trading one (100 shares) or more lots. As per the article, “the exchange has an odd lot system to ensure that small trades, which is priced separately from larger orders, do not get left behind by the “block” trades sent to the big board by…
