Profile Juliet Lopez

Born in Britain to parents of Afrikan origin, Jamaican descent in East London. It was always clear to my parents that I was not going to be an ordinary child obstinate intelligent bubbly and bright. I had a love of nature and all things natural not precluding natural rights. By the age of 5 I was writing my own poetry and songs and had a love for music and was learning the piano. By the age of 8 I was performing on behalf of the GLC anti racism poetry that reflected the discrimination and racism that I had experienced first hand. Tony Banks had no qualms in telling me I would be infamous, I thought was brilliant until I found out what it really meant.

Then I realised that he probably had a point and continued to write and perform . At age 16 Benjamin Zephaniah gave me my highest paying job performing on stage at the Theatre Royal in Stratford and I have been a huge supporter ever since, admiring his lyrical genius and principled stand.

Whenever possible I shared my views on the subject using the hashtag that I created #EthnicityPayGap and asked others to follow suit to raise the profile. As I continued talking and writing about the topic I began to realise months had passed and not much had changed, that is when I hit upon a…
